MSI updates its Wind U135 range with an updated processor.
The Wind U135DX comes with Intel's latest ATOM N455 processor with power-sipping single-chip architecture enhancing overall performance by 10% and extending battery life by 15%. Although still running at 1.66GHz, the N455 CPU supports DDR3 memory (up to 2GB). The Wind U135DX also features MSI’s TDE (Turbo Drive Engine) technology which allows the user to overclock the CPU enhancing the netbook’s processing performance and maximizing its hardware capabilities.
The MSI rep showed me how easy it was to overclock this unit and it can be set in 5 steps (default, 1, 2, 3, and 4) The fourth step porduces about 1.8GHz.
The external appearance remains similar to the current Wind U135 netbooks which also feature a 20% larger touchpad when compared to the older Wind U100 series netbooks. It also features MSI's chiclet keyboard that expands the area of contact between fingers and keys when compared to regular keyboards, reducing typing errors and increasing comfort.
