Has anyone tested Russa on an HTC TyTN2? I've downloaded the demo but I don't have a small garmin map to test [the demo has the map size limited].

isn't the screen of the i780 a bit too crowded for the software?

No, I believe it has a perfect rendering for maps.

Hi there.

I find the freewebs GPS Roadguide Philippine map to be the best so far. It's routable, it has street-level detail for most urban areas, and it's free. Even if it is only for Garmin's, there's little or no problem as Garmin Mobile XT works with different OS's. And GMXT is also free.

Cheers.

i find the google maps (pre-installed in samsung omnia units) incomplete, hence, useless. has anyone tried other softwares like garmin, etc.?

i have no time to browse all posts here but i would appreciate it very much if anybody can help me buy/install gps software like garmin in my samsung omnia unit. do i need to buy other gps accessories/ hardware to use garmin? where can i buy the software (a site where a Philippine buyer can use credit card to purchase; same goes for Philippine-registered PayPal user)?

please do send me links about this topic, if any.

thanks.

I know someone is using Garmin on her Omnia so it should work fine with yours. Just download the Phil map from here: http://roadguide.ph/index.html
You will have to register first before you can download it.

I agree DR! Helped me a lot when I went to Tanauan last month with Garmin guiding me turn by turn. Would actually be better if you have a car mount installed on your windshield. Very Happy

yeah that is a must for me too. though i already know the way, i still used Garmin to guide me from Mactan International Airport to Cebu Pier. i want to know if the cab i took will cheat me or not (fortunately he didn't). also used it to know how far my destinations are, and guided me in Ormoc and Tacloban. maps are pretty accurate for these cities.

Recently I installed Garmin Mobile XT on my Samsung Omnia i900 and so far doing good. The source of maps can be downloaded free from http://esambale.wikispaces.com/osmphil_garmin

Currently their group are exporting files from Open Street Map to Garmin Files. Open Street Maps as far as I can see has roads, pero wala lang mga names so the wiki operator is aking for a community effort para magload kayo ng roadmaps sa Open Street Maps para makumpleto ang roads sa Garmin. Current file is almost 8 MB and since alam mo naman ang mga waypoints, markahan mo na kaagad bago mo puntahan. Smile

Byed away Garmin Mobile XT version 5 is available at around $99 dollars according sa website. May mga kumakalat na software sa rapidshare at megaupload libre pero makonsensya kayo Smile tandaan... mahirap labanan ang konsensya...
