resco file explorer has a recycle bin!

this is good news for me, who almost always delete the wrong files and have no way to put them back Laughing

i saw the application being available at pocketgear.com

spb pocketplus is also a great application, though it really slows down the speed of my ppc phone

any other softwares (including cab files) you recommend?

Those two applications are really great.

I never experienced any major slowdonws with Pocket Plus. I actually love the implementation of Pocket Plus to allow hardware buttons to control Pocket Plus and kill apps easily.

I've used them from the time they were introduced and they have come a long way. Two essential apps to make full use of the potentials of Windows Mobile.

i have always used a couple of great programs:

1) Calendar Plus is a program that runs under the Pocket PC's Today screen. It emulates the standard Pocket PC Calendar plug-in exactly, except that it offers more features. Features include the ability to see multiple days, the ability to look a given number of appointments ahead, and multiple ways of displaying the various calendar fields.

2) TCPMP: an open-source media player for Palm OS-based and Windows CE / Windows Mobile-based devices.

Supported file containers
- AVI (*.avi)
- Matroska (*.mkv, *.mka)
- MP4 (*.mp4, *.m4a)
- Ogg Media (*.ogg, *.ogm)
- ASF (*.asf)

Supported audio codecs
- Mpeg 1 Layer III
- Ogg Vorbis
- Musepack
- Windows Media Audio (on Windows Mobile devices)
- AC-3
- AMR
- Adpcm, uLaw

Supported video codecs
- DivX
- XviD
- MPEG4-SP (plus B-frame support)
- MPEG1
- M-JPEG
- Windows Media Video (on Windows Mobile devices)

...best of all, these apps are free!!!

I agree with all the abovementioned apps mentioned. They are all essential and add to the Windows Mobile experience.

For my two cents, here is an app that is actually FREE and has become quite indispensable for me. It's called TODAYSINFO and SPACER. They are both Today Screen Plugins and they can be found at www.pocketpcfreewares.com.

My Magic 8 Apps

1. spb Pocket Plus (v.3.1.2 b5372) is an ABSOLUTE essential. Tried it on various pda's --xda2, xda2i, Dopod 900, Dopod 838, Atom, and the HP Atom-rehash, ipaQ rw6828 -- and the way the app behaves, you'd think spb has an inside man coding at Microsoft!

2. Resco Explorer 2005 v.5.31 -- just like Pocket Plus, an ABSOLUTE essential. (on your computer, while sync-ing, you can right-click on any file and send it to your ppc DIRECTLY!)

3. TCPMP v.0.71 -- how could you NOT have this?!

4. Resco Audio Recorder v.3.21 -- for recording ANYTHING. And playing great hifi music on your pda.

5. Bass & Treble for PPC (though you have to be careful not to boost your settings too high)

6. Adobe Reader for PPC v.2.0 (which beats MS Reader, big time, with its auto scroll feature!)

7. OmegaOne 1-Calc v.2.3.1 -- what can I say? . . . you need this!

8. and, because we all need a good, free dictionary, MS Reader v.2.4!

And this seems to work even if the Pocket PC or Smartphone doesn't have Resco Explorer installed in them... jump clap that is if you have the conduit from Resco Explorer installed on your PC... hehehe...

SPB Diary is a great app too. It simplifies my today screen.

And oh, you should try eSoft Interactive games! Smile

Pocket Quicken,Pocket Player are my "essentials"
iSilo 4.3 ----btw am sure you guys already know that you can open
Palm iSilo .pdb files in your Pocket PC.. Very useful for MDs
with Palm based iSilo medbooks

Speaking of Palm ---scratching that itch is quite easy...I highly recommend an app called StyleTap...You can have a Palm platform (including launcher) within your PPC...Sorry to say pero there's just no way some PPC apps launch with the speed that some Palm apps do (even when running it sa PPC using this app.

Any recommendations tho for playing QuickTime (QT) video files?

SMS Notifier watches for incoming calls that are missed (i.e. not answered). Depending on configuration settings it does the following things:

* Send an SMS message to the caller (configurable contents), possibly containing also the end time of current appointment (configurable).
* Adds an item to calendar (containing the caller info)

*** note: the program has to be launched, and then minimized (not closed) to work.
