A tool to edit PocketPC Word Completion feature dictionary
About

PocketPC has internal mechanism intended to help user write text - word completion feature. You enable or disable it and change some its options in System > Settings > Input. But there is no way to add your word to dictionary or change words, that system learned from you (yes, it does it sometimes).

All words, system learns from you are placed in custom dictionary. This program is intended to edit

Two dictionaries may exist: main and temporary, dyncompdict.dat and dyncompdict.tmp. I can't tell right now, why there are two of them and what each of them is intended for.

Each word in dictionary has weight - characteristic that defines word position in popup list. By default, weight = 0 assigned to each word. Maximal value, that you can specify is 50.
Actually, you don't need to change this, system will increase it automatically upon word usage. But sometimes it is useful to customize look of popup list.

Using this utility, you can create, edit and delete one of two dictionaries. Dictionary will be alphabetically sorted, when saved. Words shorter than 4 letters, will be discarded - system will ignore such words anyway. Duplicate words also will be discarded. This done to keep dictionary smaller - there is some limitation on its size - about 7-8kb, larger dictionary will be truncated.

nyx clock

This application is simple digital clock, but it has very interesting switching between digits, you can endless watch it, as you watch water or fire Smile New version is fully redesigned and restyled, has very beautiful background with star sky, added a lof of features: alarm (works in 2 modes: every day alarm, one time alarm), on/off displaying date on the main screen, on/off displaying alarm on the main screen (when alarm is displaying on the screen you can see if it is turned on or off and also you are able quickly switch it between on/off states by tapping on the alarm icon), starting clock in fullscreen/normal mode, set your own volume for alarm (now you shouldn't care if your system volume on or off or how loud it is, alarm uses volume you set in its own properties), set your own sound for alarm (you can choose any .wav file from any folder on your windows mobile device)

nyx password storage

Nyx Password Storage is reliable and secure storage for your confidentional information, first of all for passwords, but not only them. Have you ever run into the situation, you couldn't remember password for your login on your favorite internet forum? Or password for your mailbox? Password for your Internet Messenger? Do you have some credit cards and you mix pin codes sometimes? Nyx Password Storage will help you to manage all your secret information! Take into account the advantages:
1. You don't have to remember hundrets of your passwords, logins, pin codes and other important pieces of information, you have to remember only one password to access Nyx Password Storage.
2. Nyx Password Storage is free of charge if you use it for your personal purposes.
3. Nyx Password Storage encrypts all your passwords and other information using Blowfish cypher algorythm, so even if you loose your smartphone/PDA or it is stolen, nobody will be able to access your private information.
4. Nyx Password Storage has very reliable backup system, every time you start it, it makes new backup copy. If your smartphone/PDA hangs up or program crashes you can easely restore all information. Moreover, all information stores in one file and you can copy it to any save place you want.

Since it's freeware posting the download link isn't against site rules, is it?

I cannot find in WM2005 the easy to use xBackup utility that comes with WM2003 in O2 XDA Mini and XDA II. Does anyone know where to download xBackup?

I have downloaded and used the trial version of SPB Backup. It has only the backup commands, how do you restore files?

What are the pros and cons of SPB Backup compared with xBackup?

Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions. Smile

Is it the features of the alarm that you are not happy with or the very faint tones that you can choose from for alarm?

If the former, what additional features are you looking for? Here's a site where you can browse through some freeware clocks apps. There are other sites already posted in this forum.

If the latter, then you may want to copy some *wav that are loud enough to suit your taste.
