reformatting is the last option. We call it here "reflashing the ROM"

It would be helpful if you cite what led to the hanging or bricking your unit.

Wether it;s your fault or not, a perfect honesty of what led to it will surely hasten the solution. Otherwise I can't surmise a optionable solution to your problem.

BTW, if you do start a thread. a one word title just not suffice it.
Be more specific. Thank you.

Hard reset it if soft-resetting did not work!

Refer to your manual how to hard reset your phone or ...

Soft reset: Use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of your device.

Hard reset: Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. You will be presented with a menu saying 'press R to reset, X to exit', if you press R Your device will be set back to factory default settings.
(The L/R soft keys are the "- -" keys just above the start and OK buttons)

I agree. Sometimes a simple soft reset works.

If it hangs because of a rogue application which wasn't really designed for the unit or OS it is using then you can narrow down the cause as well.

Try to restart your PC and do a soft reset on your device.

If you can get your device to start up, remove all files from the main memory and move it to storage.

If you can still get the device to go into bootloader mode then there might be a chance you can flash it from the SD card.

If that fails, then it might be your device failing already.

since you weren't able to flash your unit with the new rom, may i ask if the present firmware is the one officially released by htc?

Not necessarily walang pag-asa.

If a device fails to load up the OS, then the OS might have been corrupted. Reflashing the OS might help.

You have a Hermes device right?

If so, you will need HERMIMG.nbh and copy it to the root folder of your microSD card.

With microSD card inserted on the phone, start the bootloader.

Flashing via SD
