Hi,

I tried to surf using non-wifi today and it seems that there is no way to disconnect the internet connection unless you turn-off the phone.

Exiting Internet Explorer will not disconnect the phone from the internet. This is dangerous and could be costly.

Any advise?

Thanks!

Try installing No Data, its a freeware in which you can manually set when you will use data connections. It is suggested by WM forums almost everywhere, sadly I cannot find the .cab file yet, I need it too. Sad

There are two utilities that do the same thing.

One is NoData from Modaco which can be found here. (requires registration to the forum to be able to download it.) or the other option called Data Controller which can be downloaded from here.

I've always said that there must be user control involved when data connections are concerned. This is something HTC and some other manufacturers fail to see and insist on automating it to connect to the network in the background. The sad part is that we fall victim to unwanted charges. Is this their problem? Obviously not. It becomes the end user's problem.

The only Windows Phone brand right now which I am aware of that allows the user to override data connection and protect the user from unwanted charges is Acer.

At least there are two developers who can now provide you with a solution.

Have you tried accessing the Wireless manager and from the right softkey menu select "Disconnect cellular data"?

Been doing that once I get done accessing the internet through 3G from my B7320.

The 3G/H/3G+ icon in the signal bars disappear once I do that.
