Internet Explorer 9 is now on RC. This means RTM is just around the corner.

Another sign that Microsoft has ended its support for XP is very evident in this release of Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer 9 works only on Windows Vista and of course Windows 7.

What’s new in Internet Explorer 9?

The improvements to Internet Explorer are as much about what you don't see as what you do see. Internet Explorer 9 has a streamlined design, fewer dialog boxes to click through, more intuitive navigation, and many new features that speed up your web browsing experience. Features like Pinned Sites let you pin your favorite website directly to the taskbar for one-click access. Other features, like hardware acceleration, deliver an all-around faster browsing experience. With Internet Explorer 9, websites perform and feel more like the programs you use every day on your PC.

The interface is still pretty straightforward and they have gotten rid of some redundant elements. For example, you will no longer find the search bar beside the address bar. For those of you using IE8, you'll notice that entering your search item in the search bar is really not necessary. Entering your search item in the address bar works just as well. So why have a search bar? Right?

The streamlined interface even works better for computers with a small screen such as netbooks. Everything you need is right in front of you. All the basic things that is. Some features are now hidden to give focus on your browsing experience. But don't worry, those features are just a button click away.

If you are on Windows 7, then you will appreciate this next feature - the Pinned Site. You can pin sites that you visit regularly in the taskbar. It's like a desktop shortcut but on the taskbar. Taskbar pinning of apps, files and now websites is a feature of Windows 7.

The tear off tabs also works well. Tear-off tabs allow you to drag a tab out of Internet Explorer to open the tab's webpage in a new window, and Snap it for side-by-side viewing.

Considering this, its too bad won't work with WinXP since many older netbooks came preloaded with licensed XP
